Our safeguarding pledge

Last Updated: 10-07-2025

Koji Academy Uk

Your child’s safety and wellbeing always come first.

  • All our staff are fully DBS-checked and trained to keep children safe.

  • We have dedicated safeguarding leads who handle any concerns quickly and appropriately.

  • We work closely with schools, families, and local authorities to protect every child.

  • We teach students how to stay safe, both in person and online.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — together, we create a safe space for children and young people to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our Commitment

We ensure safeguarding is embedded in every aspect of our work by:

  • Creating a safe, inclusive environment where students can learn and thrive.

  • Meeting our statutory responsibilities under the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023).

  • Identifying children who may need additional support or who may be at risk of harm and taking prompt action.

  • Ensuring every member of staff has an Enhanced DBS check and is registered with the DBS Update Service.

  • Providing all staff with regular safeguarding training, including how to recognise, respond to, and report concerns.

  • Appointing designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) who are trained to manage concerns, referrals, and support for pupils.

  • Working in partnership with schools, local authorities, and other agencies to protect children and promote their welfare.

Policy & Procedures

  • A comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, developed in line with local authority safeguarding arrangements (Telford & Wrekin), is in place and available on request.

  • All staff are required to always follow Koji Academy’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Concerns are promptly referred to the appropriate Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and external agencies where necessary.

Data Protection

We are committed to protecting personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • Our Data Protection and Information Security Policy outline how data is collected, stored, and processed.

  • Personal information relating to pupils, staff, parents, and partners is handled lawfully, fairly, and transparently.

Online Safety

Koji Academy UK promotes digital resilience and online safety by:

  • Teaching students how to use the internet responsibly and securely.

  • Embedding online safety awareness across our curriculum.

  • Providing dedicated sessions on critical thinking, cyber safety, and digital wellbeing.
